Peter K. Chung, M.D., F.A.A.P

Dr. Chung has been a Pediatrician at Carroll Children’s Center for over 10 years. He grew up in Baltimore, MD where he attended Gilman School. He received his Bachelor’s degree and graduated Cum Laude from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania and his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his Pediatric residency from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ. Dr. Chung is married and has two great children. He strives to treat his patients the way he would want his children treated. Dr. Chung enjoys being active and playing golf.

Yasmeen S. Abernathy, M.D.

Dr. Abernathy is a board certified pediatrician who joined Carroll Children’s Center in January 2015. Dr. Abernathy graduated magna cum laude from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology/pre-medicine. She then went on to receive her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania–Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now known as Drexel University) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Abernathy completed her pediatric residency at Tod Children’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. Though originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Abernathy
has been practicing general pediatric medicine for 13 years in Maryland and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is committed to providing quality healthcare for her pediatric and adolescent patients in a comfortable and compassionate manner. In her spare time, Dr. Abernathy enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with her husband, son and dog.

Cynthia B. Newton, R.R.T., PA-C

Cindy graduated with honors from Towson University with a B.A. in Biology in 1982. She became a Respiratory Therapist at Carroll Hospital Center (then CCGH) in 1983, graduating from the California College of Health Sciences with honors and becoming certified in 1985 and registered in 1989. She studied counseling at Boston University and the University of Maryland, but, while living abroad, changed her course after meeting military P.A’s in Germany. Cindy then attended the Essex Physician Assistant Program, graduating in 2000 as Vice President of her class. She has a background in ACLS and has been a member of the Tri Beta Honor Society, CCBC Honor Society, The Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She has two grown children and loves animals and gardening. Cindy has been employed at Carroll Children’s Center since 2000 and looks forward to helping you with all of your child’s health care needs.

Angela Masters

Angela Masters, CPNP

Angela was born and raised in Manitoba, Canada, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Manitoba (2003). She went on to complete her Masters in Nursing from the University of New Mexico (2007), and then her post-masters certificate in primary care pediatrics from Johns Hopkins University (2015). All of her clinical experience has been in pediatrics – acute care, school-based nursing, and primary care pediatrics. She has a particular interest in well childcare, asthma, and sports injuries. Angela is married, has 2 teenage children, and a Labradoodle named Charlie. She loves to spend time with her family and friends at Smith Mountain Lake in southern Virginia. When not at the lake, she can be found at a local pool cheering on her children who are competitive swimmers, gardening, and cooking.

Brenna Nave, CRNP

Brenna is a Carroll County native, she grew up and went to school in Westminster. In 2016, she graduated from East Carolina University with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and moved back to Westminster to start her nursing career. Brenna started in the NICU at University of Maryland before transitioning to Labor & Delivery at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and most recently, Carroll Hospital Center. She went on to get her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University and is certified with American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Brenna is married with two small children and two big dogs at home; she is eager to work with her local community here at Carroll Children’s Center!

Michael J. Scobie, M.D. (Retired), F.A.A.P (Retired)

Dr. Scobie is a native of Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry in 1971. He received his M.D. degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico in 1981 and completed an internship at Prince George’s Hospital in Cheverly, MD sponsored by the University of Maryland in 1982. He then completed a Pediatric Residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore including rotations at the University of Maryland Medical System and the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in 1985. He joined Carroll Children’s Center in 1986 and has been an affiliated member of Carroll Hospital Center and St. Agnes Hospital for over 25 years. He belongs to the following organizations: The American Academy of Pediatrics, Med Chi, MGMA, and the Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association. He has been board certified with the American Academy of Pediatrics for 25 years. He is married with two daughters and enjoys hiking, travelling, reading, growing orchids and his Great Pyrenees Dogs.
