Carroll Childrens Center – Pediatrician in Westminster, Maryland

Carroll Children’s Center provides primary care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to age 21 years.  It is our goal to provide quality, comprehensive, medical care not only to those with typical development, but also to those with special needs who require complex care. We are a small office in the heart of Westminster comprised of two full-time physicians and one part-time physician: Dr. Peter Chung and Dr. Yasmeen Abernathy are here full-time and Dr. Michael Scobie is here part-time.  We also have a great nurse practitioner, Wendy Gatto; as well as three great physician’s assistants, Cynthia Newton, Shannon Gibbons and Sarah Letos. Find out more about us on the link titled “Our Providers”.

What We Believe

We strive to establish a personal relationship with each of our families in order to facilitate the formation of a unique and trusted partnership.  Through this partnership, we hope to achieve growth:  growth of our patients, growth of parent education, growth of positive parenting skills, and on-going growth of our knowledge of science and the art of practicing medicine.  We invite you to….Grow with us!

COVID-19 Check-In Procedures

We are happy to announce that we will continue to serve our community by seeing both well and sick patients in the office, with the exceptions of coughing and/or wheezing. If the patient displays either of these symptoms, please call the office and we will schedule a telehealth visit with one of our providers. We will also be continuing telehealth visits as an option for those not comfortable coming into the office.

We do not have a confirmed date for the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccinations at our practice. We will be sending announcements and updates via email, website, and our Facebook page. If you would like to be kept up to date, please visit our “Contact Us” page and sign up for our updates, as well as follow us on Facebook!

We continue to follow COVID guidelines by maintaining social distancing and other safety protocols in an effort to keep our patients and staff protected.

COVID-19 Check-In Procedures

  1. Please call the office from your car when you arrive to check in for your appointment. We will let you know when a room is ready for you, and when to enter the building. We will also instruct you on which entrance to use.
  2. With these added restrictions we will be asking anyone that is more than 20 minutes late for their appointment to reschedule.
  3. All people, 2 years and older, must wear a mask at all times when in the office.
  4. All people entering the office will have their temperature taken in the lobby.
  5. Any patient with symptoms such as cough or wheezing will be rescheduled as a Telehealth.

We encourage all of our patients to please continue to practice social distancing, proper handwashing, and wear a mask. We look forward to continuing to serve our community and seeing patients as we all adjust to our new normal.
